Dissolution of the Schweizer Kammerchor (Swiss Chamber Choir)
We regret to have to announce that the Schweizer Kammerchor (Swiss Chamber Choir) had to give up his activities and has been resolved on July 31, 2011.
The Ensemble
Formed in 1997 on the initiative of Fritz Näf and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the professional Schweizer Kammerchor is particularly devoted to symphonic choir music but pays equal attention to a cappella works of the 17th to 21st centuries. The choir soon proved its outstanding artistic abilities in collaborations with internationally famous conductors such as David Zinman, Chief Conductor Tonhalle Orchestra, Claudio Abbado, Herbert Blomstedt, Ivor Bolton, Pierre Boulez, Frans Brüggen, Sir Colin Davis, Eric Ericson, Ton Koopman, Kurt Masur, Sir Simon Rattle, Gennady Rozhdestvensky or Wolfgang Sawallisch.
Concerts
The Schweizer Kammerchor sang with some of the most renowned orchestras: Lucerne Festival Orchestra (Abbado), Berliner Philharmoniker (Boulez, Rattle), Wiener Philharmoniker (Rattle), London Symphony Orchestra London (Davis), London Philharmonic Orchestra (Masur), Mariinsky Orchestra (Gergiev) or Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest (Inbal).
A concert tour has been undertaken to the Ukraine, where the choir performed with the Chamber Orchestra Kiev and the Philharmonic Orchestra Chernivtsi, whereas Paris and Frankfurt am Main were visited together with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne conducted by Christian Zacharias. In October 2004 the Schweizer Kammerchor enjoyed huge success touring South America, singing in Argentina, Brazil as well as in Chile. He was invited to Serbia in 2007 by Jeunesse Musicales of Serbia and in 2009 he followed an invitation by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra to perform together with them in Kuala Lumpur. In november 2010 he took part in concerts of the 200-years celebrations in Mexico (Morelia, Querétaro and Mexico-City).
